The Scottsdale Foundation for the Handicapped (SFH) is a private, 501 (c) 3 nonprofit corporation founded in 1973 to provide what was then called sheltered employment for adults with physical or developmental disabilities. It was created because of the passion and need of a few local families whose adult, disabled children required ongoing services designed to help them integrate into the community. That founding group became Las Madrinas (The Godmothers), the auxiliary that today continues to be a major source of financial and volunteer support for the agency.
